Yes, those dingleberries. It's a real place, deep in the Sierra Mountains' John Muir Wilderness, which Peter Brown in his seminal volume Sierra Nevada Place Names says the namer "christened the lake for the dingleberries on the hind ends of his sheep."

Gross.

But apparently when it came to naming high Sierra lakes, all bets were off. We've got the nearby Disappointment Lake, Hell for Sure Lake, Lake of the Lone Indian, [Racist Slur] Lake (now Nüümü Hu Hupi), and Pee Wee Lake to keep the dingleberries company.
