Let's Read Fifty Shades of Grey 2025 Jun 3    pervocracy.blogspot.com
I've never read Fifty Shades of Grey but like anyone alive back when it came out I knew of its existence and the reputation surrounding it. Wikipedia as usual does it's usual sloppy gloss over the book's contents, somehow failing to adequately describe the situation despite being intently focused on both the forest and the trees in that uniquely lackluster way that the questionably-human Wikipedia editors are known for. Enter Cliff from Pervocracy, who back in 2013 suffered through 23 of the book's 26 wretched chapters of abuse, emails, and abusive emails all the while snipping out excerpts for us, their readers, and commenting upon them as only Cliff can do. Take a stroll through these 5SoG Cliff's notes (lol) and enlighten yourself as to just how bad the book truly is in it's writing, storytelling, depiction of healthy relationships, and understanding of the fundamentals of actual BDSM.
Vagina Musuem FAQ 2025 Jun 2    vaginamuseum.co.uk
I feel like I've learned more about vaginas in 5 minutes reading the Vagina Museum's FAQ page than I ever did in the school's sex ed curriculum. And having never taken any other physiology/anatomy classes, I'm not sure where else I would have learned this stuff.
The Vagina Museum was founded with the intention of busting the stigma of the gynaecological anatomy and be part of a societal shift from bodily shame to celebration.
And the stigma is strong.
Gay Bathhouse History 2025 Feb 21    web.archive.org
For some reason, the websites documenting the history of gay bathhouses seem to have fallen off the net. I don't know why. Lucky for us, the Internet Archive nabbed copies of sites such as Bathhouse Addict and Gaytubs, allowing us to learn about e.g. the linked Continental Baths which a centerpiece of gay culture from 1968-1976 in New York City. It's a remarkable piece of not just gay history – understanding the attitudes and norms of the club's day-to-day and how it survived hostile governments – but also as a part of the zeitgeist's pre-AIDS sexual liberation which was affecting all parts of American culture.
